Athlete Workshops

I offer four workshops aimed at athletes of all levels whether based in a sports team, club or university.

These workshops incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles and are based on areas key for athletic development and performance.

Mindfulness for Athletes 

  • Focuses on introducing athletes to the benefits of mindfulness for managing stress and anxiety related to competition.

  • How to practice mindfulness techniques, such as breathing exercises, to improve their ability to accept difficult thoughts and emotions without judgment.

  • Discussions on how mindfulness can help athletes stay present and focused during competition, using ACT principles to help them accept and manage distractions.


Values-Based Goal Setting

  • This workshop would help athletes identify their core values and set goals that align with those values.

  • Participants would learn how to use ACT principles to identify what is truly important to them and develop goals that are meaningful and motivating.

  • Discussion on how athletes can use their values to stay motivated and committed to their goals, even when facing challenges or setbacks.


Developing Acceptance Skills

  • This workshop would focus on teaching athletes how to develop acceptance skills, such as acknowledging and accepting difficult emotions and thoughts related to competition.

  • Participants would learn how to identify and challenge negative thoughts and emotions using ACT principles, and how to develop acceptance skills to manage stress and anxiety.

  • Role-playing activities and group discussions to help athletes practice and internalize these skills.


Mental Toughness Training

  • This workshop would help athletes develop mental toughness using ACT principles.

  • Participants would learn how to use acceptance and mindfulness skills to manage stress and anxiety during competition, and how to develop a growth mindset to view setbacks as opportunities for learning and growth.

  • Includes exercises and activities to help athletes practice these skills and develop mental toughness
